Truck accidents: Collision sends students to hospital

A terrifying 18-wheeler accident recently sent 10 Texas students to the hospital. The driver who caused the wreck was apparently not injured. While serious injuries are not uncommon with these types of truck accidents, victims apparently only suffered minor injuries. However, this does not mean that they will not have potentially time-consuming or costly recoveries.

When a defective product causes brain injuries, legal help is key

As a consumer, you expect the products that you purchase to be effective and safe. Unfortunately, companies often prioritize their own profits over the safety of their customers. If you or loved one suffered harm -- including brain injuries -- from a dangerous product, you can seek compensation through the careful actions of a products liability suit.

Wrongful death: Driver to be sentenced for fatal 2017 wreck

The National Transportation Safety Board recently released findings regarding a fatal 2017 wreck. The collision -- which involved a pickup truck and a Texas church bus -- left 13 people dead. In general, Texas has a two-year statute of limitations on wrongful death claims, so family members who have yet to pursue legal action may choose to utilize the NTSB's findings if they choose to move forward with such claims.

Wrongful death: 12-year-old girl killed in school bus accident

A Texas community is likely in mourning following a deadly school bus accident. One student was killed in the wreck and many others were injured, including three who had to be transported to the hospital for treatment. When a loved one is killed in an accident because of a driver's negligence, some families choose to seek justice through wrongful death claims.

Truck accidents are frequently deadly

Driving next to an 18-wheeler on the interstate can be an extremely uncomfortable situation, but most people expect that trucking companies take every precaution when it comes to their trucks and drivers. Unfortunately, this is not necessarily the case. Truck drivers often operate vehicles while fatigued, putting other motorists in Texas at risk for serious -- and fatal -- truck accidents.

Is an apology enough in a medical malpractice case?

Although the purpose of health care is to improve your well-being, far too often it leads to worse problems. You may go in for a routine procedure and come out with new and more severe conditions due to errors. The reason this happens is a failure to follow professional standards (negligence). This can mean anything from performing surgery without sufficient training to mixing up medical files and missing a diagnosis.

Falls the leading cause of fatal injury among older adults

As an older American living in Texas, you face specific hazards that place you at higher risk of falling than the rest of the population. While certain risk factors, such as inadequate lighting, cluttered store aisles or uneven sidewalks, have the capacity to make anyone fall, your chances of tripping over them and injuring yourself increase once you hit a certain age.
